Our lovely stay at JW Marriott Medan

For the obvious reason, hubby and I stayed one night at JW Marriott Medan during the end of our leg of Medan - Toba trip last week, the reason would be; I did not have to pay it myself. Hahahaa... Thank you Mr E! *thenamecouldnotbementionsaidthehubby*
We arrived quite late, around 8 PM from our 5 hours road trip from Parapat, with the rest of the team, so yeah we were tired. It's a good thing that we have our stay in JW Marriott Medan in the end of our trip, otherwise, compared to other hotels that we have stayed in Parapat and Samosir, it would be a declining standard. It's almost like a rewarding stay, back to civilization feeling when we entered their luxury lobby, and embrace the nice air-con and lovely scent that you usually smell only in luxury hotels. Hahahaha...
Their Lobby and they have mobile apps,
so you could do online check-in for your room

Anywaaay.. One night would be enough to rest in a such splurge room like in JW Marriott Medan. Mba Noni was nicely helped us to prepare our check in to our room so when we arrived at 8 PM, everything was already taken care and we did not waste more time to enjoy the room, and hubby even got Marriott membership card with special privileges that I forgot what are they about , I am so sooryy...(the front desk explained to us, but I was too excited looking at city view outside from our room's big glass window).
Morning view from our room
Our room number was 2627, so it's located in 26th floor which gives us a panoramic view of Medan. You will be given a room keycard which you should use to access the elevator to your room's floor., for safety reason, you could only hit your room's floor and other public area floor.

Our room was a Deluxe room and very spacious as a 5 stars hotel should be, there are 2 fluffy armchair sofa, a huge working desk, mini bar area, and our king bed is side by side with the bathroom's glass window which you could see through the entire bathroom - which is suitable for me to did a number of private striptease show from bathroom to Pak Suami, hahaha ok, #TMIalert ..sorry for disappointing you, but no photos are published here during the session, hahaha. But seriously, one could watch the 42" LED TV while soaking in the bathtub, easy peasy, very relaxing. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, and most importantly: free.
The see-through bathroom's glass window
The Bathroom is spacious too, equipped with shower box and a heavy duty shower head, a bathtub, and toilet. Amenities are fully equipped including hair dryer. As I said, the highlight would be a giant see-through glass window as the divider between bathroom and our bed. But need not to worry if you're staying here with a friend whom you would not want her/him to 'watch' you take a shower, there is a control panel when you press it down then a curtain will roll down to close this glass window.

We ate dinner in one of their restaurant, called PRIME Steakhouse. Unfortunately I had earlier dinner before and I was to full to eat a 220 gram steak, so I ordered appetiser ; Foie Grass and Scallop (I forgot what it called in menu) and England Clam Chowder soup but Hubby did ordered New York Striploin steak with wild mushroom sauce. We even got compliment from the Chef, I don't know what it was, but it's damn good!, hahaha...the Clam Chowder is really good but I found out that I am not actually a fans of Foie Gras (this was not my first time eating foie gras, first time I did not quite like it, but I attempted to give it a second chance). It was a pretty late dinner so not many people there while we were there, however the music from (I think a lounge) a level below this restaurant was playing a loud music, not that I complaint, but it was a Monday night and I was wondering if Medanese are really partying during working day. Aside from PRIME, there is also another restaurant; JADE restaurant which serves Chinese food, Marriot Cafe - where they serve breakfast (also lunch and dinner-but these two are not included in room rate, obviously) and there is also The Lounge where you could enjoy live jazz music.

We had a lovely good night sleep in JW Marriott Medan, and the next morning we got up early, we visited the spa (Quan Spa), indoor fitness center and outdoor pool area. The sun peeked a bit, very beautiful.
Beautiful sunrise
Contemplating to swim or not
Akhirnya berenang..
At first I did not plan to swim, so I did not bring my swimsuit but after seeing their swimming pool, I got tempted so I went back to our room, change and did 10 laps swimming, hahaha very ambitious for a girl who does not take sport as her hobby. Btw, you don't need to bring your room towel to swim here, they'll provide a new one from the Spa reception. There are some 'Bale-bale' in pool area where one could lay down, enjoying scenery, having chit chat with friends, or simply sleeping - which that was actually what my Hubby did while I was swimming.

The changing/shower room is pretty huge, they have lockers, shower rooms, sauna, steam room, even a small hot jacuzzi pool where I saw an Ajumma soaked herself there, naked!, she must thought this place is sort of smaller scale of Jjimjilbang (well, to be honest, I don't know how is the actual common bathing suit rules in Jacuzzi).
Breakfast at Tiffany Marriot cafe
all kind of bread vs Lontong Medan's condiment

Later on, we had breakfast at Marriott Cafe. They have extensive AYCE menu, from local dishes; Nasi Lemak with Rendang, Lontong Medan, Kuetiau/Noodle soup, American, Continental to Japanese food. I would love to try them all! however after a bowl of Miso soup, 3 pieces of salmon sashimi, a bowl of Kuetiao Soup, 3 glasses of fruit punch then ended with my favorite local sweet delicacy; Lupis (a Sumateran dish made; rice cake, sprinkled with grated coconut and brown sugar syrup for topping) - then I was full and content.
Breakfast, my pick.
We spent the rest of our morning in our room, packing to be exact and then around 10 AM, we checked out and wanted to explore the city and before that I planned to meet Mbak Noni in person (which I told the story about that in here).

We had a great time in JW Marriott Medan. Everything is superb. I have nothing to complaint about. Your money is well-spent when you stay in JW Marriott Medan.
