Weekend Getaway ; Kuala Lumpur Trip

Last weekend this couple escaped from the sucky reality of Jakarta ; the utterly annoying rain and traffic jam. We departed on Friday after office hour to catch 20.30 PM AirAsia flight. Picked the "perfect" time to depart, on that particular Friday, we have several demonstrations in front of the House of Parliament, raining cats and dogs, plus the local government decided to clean up the drainage canals all over the city during this rainy season (it's supposedly be done before ya you morons!) thus altogether created a tremendous traffic jam!.
Luckily however I reached Hubby's office around 5 PM than we drove together with pak Toni - mom's driver to airport. Again, however with these traffics everywhere we managed to arrived at the SHIT  SHIA (Soekarno Hatta Int'l Airport) just before 6.30PM. Amazing.

Done check in and everything (KFC for dinner included), we finally departed with 10 minutes delay and arrived at LCCT - KL around midnight. No train available and I am too tired to get to KL Sentral by Bus, so we took the airport taxi, cost us RM 105 , yes it is expensive indeed, but I have no choice, it was 1 AM and the thought of having taxi right to your hotel's doorstep seemed heavenly at the time.

Reached the Cube Hotel at Jalan Pudu around one hour later. Fortunately ...

..the taxi driver knew the hotel, its location was not as I imagined, nearby the hotel there are several construction going on.  The hotel is small, with (supposedly) boutique concept, just like the Tune Hotel, but turned out it's not as good as Tune. Oh well, it's OK lah.

Another weird experience when we wanted to check in (bare in mind that it was 2 AM), the receptionist asked us to check the room first to see if we do like it. Maybe a lot of people is disappointing after saw the difference between the internet's images and the reality :) The room is very small ( I think it's smaller than Tune's) but the Queen spring bed is OK, Air-Con runs well, it has free Wi-Fi too, hot water shower (although the shower's power is not as strong as Tune- again another minus). Well, anyway we fell asleep after shower and everything else, around 3 AM.

The next day we woke up pretty late, around 10 AM, than we went to Berjaya Shopping Mall in Jalan Imbi, the same area where the KL Monorail Station - Imbi is, both are walking distance from our hotel, around 5 minutes walking. We had lunch at Sakae Sushi in Berjaya (too lazy to find other good resto, I picked whatever came first in our sight). The place is nice, too bad we don't have any Sakae Sushi outlets anymore in Jakarta. In here, they have iPad 2 on each table, to order online, how cool is that?!.
I ordered Grilled Salmod Head with Teriyaki Sauce,a couple plates of sushi and Hubby ordered; Ikura Chawan Mushi and Chicken Donburi. Everything is good! we paid RM 105 for all the delicacies.

We strolled the mall for a while, checked out the Cinema (a lot of Horror movies, reminded me of our country, hahaha), initially we wanted to watch movie, but then I changed my mind, I offered him to go to Batu Caves instead. We never been to Batu Caves before.Batu Caves, one of the highlights in Kuala Lumpur and also a must-see in Malaysia, is a series of caves on a limestone hill located in the Gombak district in Selangor, 14 km north of the city centre. I planned to go there by tour but then I was too busy to book the tour, same goes with our Malacca plan. So we ended up clueless in KL. So, I browsed that we could go to Batu Caves by our own, it's not that difficult after all there's a direct train from KL Sentral to Batu Caves, the route is just opened this year, what a convenience :)

The story of our half-day trip to Batu Caves can be read in here : Half Day trip to Batu Caves

We arrived back from Batu Caves in KL around 6 PM, I talked out my hubby to go to IKEA, hahahha, he ignored me at first but then I told him how good the food in IKEA restaurant, he said yes, well.. maybe it's just because he knew how I love to go to IKEA, such a great husband he is :)

After afternoon prayer, and a couple of McD's apple pies, off we go to IKEA! yeay!.. it was 7PM at the time and we need to get the free shuttle at 8PM so we took the train again (this time is LRT line) to Kelana Jaya, cost us around RM 3.20. The journey is around 20 minutes, then we must take the free shuttle from opposite of Kelana Jaya station. Bunch of people waiting for the same bus. It is actually not a free shuttle for Ikea, but for Ikano Power Center (Currently named as IPC), next to Ikea - Damansara. Surprisingly we encountered a traffic jam in nearby the IPC area, a lot of people do the shopping on Saturday night huh?...
Taken from IKEA's page, further guide on how to get to IKEA Damansara please click here

We spent our first half-hour lining order for our dinner in Ikea Restaurant, so crowded!. Everyone want a portion of Ikea's delicious Meatball!. Hubby also ordered the Meatball (only half portion, which apparently the meatball is so good and we kinda regret that we didn't order full portion), Chicken sausage with coleslaw and fries, Almond Daim cake and I ordered Poached Salmon with chives sauce...yumm.
Happy Belly Happy Mood.

We didn't shop much, just bought a laundry camper and 2 big clear laundry bags. Took the same route to go back to KL Sentral and finally back to our hotel. Very tired. Especially because of the flight of stairs in Batu Caves!. I need massage, badly.

The next day; Sunday, again, woke up pretty late (again) and we rushed for our check out, put our luggage in concierge and we strolled to Bukit Bintang (haven't been there since years ago), took the Monorail to Bukit Bintang from Imbi station (too lazy to walk). We strolled inside the Sungai Wang mall and had our lunch at a very interesting restaurant called : T-Bowl , it's a toilet concept restaurant, they have everything like we dine in a toilet/rest room. We even sit on a toilet during the meal! very nice :) The menu is pretty appealing, they have fusion Japanese/Asian menu from baked rice, ramen, udon, tom yum and also yummy dessert such as ice snow etc.
I ordered Cheese baked rice with twin sauce chicken, super delicious! highly recommended!. Thumbs up. While Hubby experienced the Tom Yam Ramen which is actually good but too spicy for him, hehehe (he was pretty mad at me as I was the one that suggested to pick that menu). Both of us ordered Hot/Ice Honey Lemon for our drink. All the food and beverages come with a pretty cute dish bowl, our food and drink are served in a toilet-like bowl/mug. Very nice touch!. We paid around RM 61 for all the "damage" :) We enjoyed the whole dining experience.

After a while we spent our afternoon in Sungai Wang (the mall is look exactly like ITCs Shopping center in Jakarta) and we also have a piece of the heavenly delicious Hokkaido layered cake (the one that we tried in 2nd anniversary of Underground Secret Dining event), this time we tried different taste than the original one, Hubby ordered the Hazelnut one and I ordered the Cream Cheese. Mine is not as good as I expected, I prefer the original one. They sell various different filling such as; Matcha, Almond, Tiramisu, Blueberry, Strawberry, Mocca, Coffee, and even Durian!. Each piece is RM 7.90. Yes it is expensive, but worth to try lah..

At 2.30 PM we rushed back to our hotel to get our luggage and heading to airport, we need to catch the 6.50PM flight and I was not so sure how long does it take to get to LCCT Airport (even though we quite often visit KL but mostly for transit and we only stay in Tune hotel LCCT). I was not sure whether to take Skybus from KL Sentral or to take the KLIA Transit train. The cost is not so much different, the Skybus (AirAsia owned) is RM 8 while the KLIA Transit is RM 12.50. The journey time is the same, in average is an hour. Although for KLIA Transit, we must get off from the train at Salak Tinggi station and continue by bus provided, all inclusive. Considered there must be traffic and I would prefer to go by train because bus is sometimes smelly and cramped, so we took the KLIA Transit. The train is clean, spacious, full Air-con,and the journey is fast and convenient, and the bus provided in Salak Tinggi is pretty new and clean. We departed from KL Sentral at 4.40 and arrived at LCCT around 5.10 PM. Our flight was delayed again, for 10 minutes, I met Ori - my fellow Alumni of UI Post Grad, currently working at one of private bank in Indonesia at Tids and Bits snack shop and Eri Juniaga my fellow alumni of Indosat who's also currently working in one of private bank in Indonesia. Both are here for office outing, nice. We arrived in Jakarta, around 9 PM, welcomed by a very long immigration line. Arrived at home around 10PM after a long drive with Gamya taxi (the driver took us in a circle due to avoid some traffic in Semanggi area, again caused by the government's drainage project.

Welcome back to Jakarta *sigh*

NOTE: pictures will be uploaded later, after I have time to sort them from the iPhone :) be patient, come back later...
